Ingredients
  

Taco Shells & Fillings

  • 12 soft taco-sized tortillas corn or flour, based on preference
  • 1 lb ground beef or chicken can substitute with plant-based alternative
  • 1 cup shredded cheese cheddar and Monterey Jack mix recommended
  • 1 cup lettuce finely chopped iceberg or romaine
  • 1/2 cup diced tomatoes or salsa for extra flavor
  • sour cream Greek yogurt can be used as a healthier alternative
  • taco seasoning blend of chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef or chicken until browned. Drain excess fat and add taco seasoning. Stir and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  • Lightly brush or spray both sides of the tortillas with olive oil. Arrange them in a muffin tin or taco rack to help hold their shape.
  • Fill each tortilla with the cooked meat mixture, then top with shredded cheese.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the tortillas are crispy.
  • Remove from the oven and top with lettuce, diced tomatoes, and a dollop of sour cream or Greek yogurt.

Notes

For a healthier option, use lean ground turkey or a plant-based meat alternative. You can also add a layer of refried beans or guacamole for extra creaminess.
